Snow, cold, cold, snow, … We go out less, and there is not much to do : nature and small tiny creatures are in slow motion.
For an inside only cat, the wintry weather doesn’t change his everyday life a lot, but for cats who can go out in the garden as us, it has a big influence : we have fewer things to watch, and fewer preys to hunt. We sleep more to spend time, and Claire pays attention to play more often with us : indeed, we tend to get into mischiefs or to play fight slightly too often to occupy us !
How do your cats react to the wintry slowing down ? Do they tend also a little to be bored, and to show themselves creative to keep busy ?
Oh I hope there is enough entertainment to chase that winter blues away… if not, we can stay under a blanket to hibernate like the bears ;o)
We agree that life is a little more boring in Winter.
We do not go on the porch as much.
Mum tries to play with us more so we do not sleep too much.

Bored? You must be joking! Plenty to do in my garden. What about the rats, the mice?
As my Master hangs balls of grease and seeds there’s plenty of birds and I have to make sure no inruder comes and catches MY birds! The intruder would take my blackbirds or my robin red-breasted for sure!
Usually winter is not a big deal here and we are mostly indoor cats, so it made no difference to us… until this year, when it’s rainy so often! I like going out on my leash, and I haven’t had much of that for the past few weeks except when my human and I are out of town. I don’t like being stuck inside one bit.
Sammy used to go sit on the front porch under cover and “watch” winter in his later years while when he was younger he’d go out and look for some trouble to get into no matter how much snow there was! Stay cozy…….
Hugs, Pam
We get bored more when the time changes, it just isn’t right!
We are mostly inside cats, but Kirby does like to slip out the door. Mom lets him for a few minuets. We do not get a lot of snow here, so we have only played in it one time and neither of us liked it.
I nap more. Less to look at outside, fevvers, sqwerls, chippies etc. Mum is around for the first time, all the time in winter. So she helps me be less bored, and I do the same for her.
Pixie, you are one stunning feline. That tail! And your unique markings! I’m in awe. I don’t think Bear minds the winter much … he’s never been one for watching animals outside (except for cats). He doesn’t like that the house is colder in winter though … but that just means more snuggles for me!
waves two ewe pixie & zorro….we like ta ice fish in de winter sew itz

heerz two a frogmouth catfish kinda week oh end two all ♥♥♥
I think my cats are less bored in Winter because we feed the birds so they have more to see out the window.
Well, since we are all indoor kitties, the winter time doesn’t change things for us. Sophie and Kylo Ren might not get to go out on adventures as much if it is cold, butIt also doesn’t get cold here for very long. Hope things warm up for you soon so you can enjoy the garden!!
My cats were always indoors but had lots of toys to entertain themselves. Back in the day, nobody thought of walking a cat on a leash! Cat life is better now ☺
We don’t go out lessen we’re with mommy, so other than da temps bein’ a bit colder and mommy wearin’ more clothes, we don’t really notice. Big hugs
Luv ya’

I love the winter cos the condo is cooler so I fun around like crazypants everyday. TW stays in more to play with me too.
We don’t go outside, so the seasons don’t affect us too much. But we do love that Mom and Dad are in the house more in the winter. 🙂
We don’t go out, so the snow doesn’t bother us too much. We love it when Mommy is snowed in and has to stay home.
Hmmm…
Back in the old days (when mes was living in Midway and mes was young) the cold di not stop mes from going out until it got below -5c. Then mes would torment Mommy, the hairy slobbery sisters and Kozmo because mes wanted to goes out and it was too cold. Now that mes living in the city, mes is a indoor cat and its the cold off the windows that bothers my old bones.
Hope it warms up soon!
Kisses
Nellie

Amarula is the only outdoor cat and she occupies her extra indoor time by beating up on Frodo and Zulu more!
You’re brave to venture out in the snow and get your paws so cold.
I’m lucky that my mom & dad will try to play with me every day. Sometimes I’m not interested but they try to keep things stimulating around here.
It has been mild here. Only one little snow. So we have got out almost every day to run around and play.
Those are lovely photos of you Pixie! We are indoor kitties but we like the summer better when the windows are open and we get to watch more wildlife and go out on the patio to enjoy the fresh air.
