Every June 19th, it’s International Box Day : various boxes are celebrated. And us, cats, like very much boxes. You don’t imagine all that we can do inside :

  • hide
  • be under cover
  • see unnoticed
  • prepare an ambus
  • stay in the warmth
  • feel safe
  • sleep comfortably
  • play (with another cat, it’s still better !)

In nature, all this behavior allows our wild cousins to hide from their predators and increase their chances of survival : a closed and small space allows to hide, retains better the heat, and allows to appear from nowhere to catch a prey. Our preference for small spaces is thus instinctive.

One more reason to celebrate this day !

Hi pals, Those are great box pictures. I feel so sad because we have tried following your blog by email 3 times now and it just doesn’t seem to come through for us. I don’t know what the problem is or how we can fix the problem, but I’ll keep trying something. Thank you for visiting again.

A belated thanks for visiting us on International box day yesterday. And we LOVE your pictures…all of them. The one with the tail peeking out is maybe the most creative and definitely the funniest. Amazing angle! And , took we loved hearing an explanation of “cats in the wild” and why cats are so drawn to boxes..
