I hope you all have a great 2019. I think your calendar will just make me wish I was there. We are planning a trip to Germany this fall (if all goes well). Perhaps we should spend a little time there too.

My husband and I did indeed visit Switzerland in 1990 on our honeymoon! We had Eurrail passes for our adventure and went to Lucerne on the train from Venice, Italy. It was a long ride but our stay in Lucerne was wonderful…..being on a train through Switzerland is a wonderful experience because seeing the countryside while train touring is amazing…..it’s an incredibly beautiful country. A few years later we passed through Zurich. Of the two places we preferred Lucerne. Love the idea of having a special calendar full of photos of your beautiful country!

    Hugs, Pam (and Teddy too)

Happy Mew Year to you also! Thanks for the giveaway. The pictures in the calendar must be beautiful.

I’ve been to Switzerland twice; first in 1970 with my mother, then in the mid 1980s as the guest of Swiss culinary (and fashion) meister Fred Feldpausch. I will never forget being presented with a dinner plate that had such a vast serving of risotto, it could have filled Lago Maggiore! Hence my walking to the summit of Madonna del Sasso to burn off the calories. What a joy seeing Basel and Zurich before spending the remaining time in the Ticino! I miss Sprungli and Teuscher shops, and the best yogurt sans rival!

    Tschüss!!

Hello and Happy New Year! On Lorianne’s blog, Four-Legged Furballs, you asked about the tradition of king cakes.

Most of the US doesn’t really celebrate Epiphany and the ensuing Carnival season, but south Louisiana does. We have king cakes through Mardi Gras, right before Ash Wednesday. The cakes have a small plastic baby figure, representing the Christ Child, and whoever finds the baby is not only king for a day, he or she has to bring the next cake.

The tradition is so much fun, i was very surprised when i was growing up to find out it is not celebrated around the whole USa.
