Very hot, too hot

This post is also available in : French German Italian

I don’t know how long this will last, but it’s hot again, very hot, too hot here : 34, 36, 38 C (93, 97, 100 F) ! For those of you who live in the southern United States or Australia, this may not be unusual, but for us it’s unbearable..

It is too hot, humid, and the air conditioning of houses or apartments is very rare. So we implement the advice we’ve given you here to protect us from the heat, and set an example for our humans to do the same : hydrate, cool, stay cool, and avoid unnecessary effort.

They respect our advice : yesterday, for example, we had a visit from Grandpa (Claire’s dad) ; after eating, they quietly stayed inside to play cards.

Do you also have these increasingly frequent heat waves ? Or has it been common for you for a long time ?

PS : we’re glad to know that our friend Marg is OK and has nothing broken after her fall on her back yesterday. We send her tons of healing purrs. Get well soon, Marg !

This Summer is the hottest one my Mom and Dad have had here in Virginia in many years…..we have had a few days of super high temps in the past but this has gone ON TOO LONG this year. We’re staying inside in the A/C more than ever…….but it’s almost dangerous out there for everyone so stay cool and hydrated – hopefully this heat will let up for ALL of us!

    Hugs, Teddy and Mom

When we moved down South years ago, I was told it takes about 7 years to adjust to the heat and humidity – and it did! It’s still hard during the hottest months though. Y’all take care of yourselves and follow your own good advice until this heat wave passes.

Pixie, you look beautiful among the green foliage sweetie.

  3. Eastside Cats

We have a few window air conditioner units, which The Hubby turns out during the real bad heat…like what you’ve got right now! And we use lots of electric fans to have a breeze blowing…so we can watch the loose hair from the cats roll across the floor…I hope the cooler weather comes along soon.

I do hope the heat breaks for you soon! Temperatures in the 90s and even around 100 aren’t uncommon here periodically during the summer (especially the last few years), but we ALL have air conditioning in southern California. My human can’t imagine what it would be like to not have it!

We just got rid of our heatwave a couple of days ago. You have a great ideas to keep cool and hopefully the temperatures will be back to normal soon. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful day and stay cool.

In NE Ohio we have a few 90 degree days most summers but we had them all last week. All week, not all done with them, we fear. There is lots of shade around our house, as we only have fans, no AC. Hope your weather gets cooler soon !

  8. William's Kith & Kin

It’s fairly hot here but the saving grace was the low humidity, 15% or less. Now it’s much higher and temps are consistently above normal, so this is getting worse for us. This year we have no cooler because Mom had a car repair bill of several thousand dollars, about the equivalent of a new cooler and professional installment. We are hot too and Mom is very cranky.

we just came through a very hot spell with similar temps as yours, but…we have air conditioning which makes it much better. I feel so bad that you do not have air! OMG!! Please keep as cool as possible! Even a cool wash cloth on your forehead and neck will help!

  10. Meezer's Mews & Terrieristical Woofs

We heard it was 40C in the Netherlands…way too hot, and AC is rare there too. Our poor over-heated relatives(
And so many others including yourselves. UGH.

We have been very hot and humid here last week, but the past few days have been lovely. Hope the extreme heat stays away. Else we may need to stay in the cellar, which is cooler even than the AC’d house, MOL!

Stay in the shade, Pixie…take a nap on a big branch to catch any wafting cooling breezes.

Sounds horrid! When I was in elementary school, my family took a trip to West Germany (and Switzerland, Austria, and France) and my father STILL complains about the first night we were there because the Guest House we stayed at didn’t have air conditioning – and as you probably know, by custom, we only had one thick blanket – no flat sheet. I didn’t mind. I cared far more about having to walk down the hall to go to the bathroom!

Your heatwave is making the news over here in the U.S. I hope it lets up soon! I’m in Southern California and it’s actually not been a terribly hot summer. It’s been hot this past week, but it seems like the heated stayed away until later this year. I am very thankful for our air conditioning! Try and stay cool!

  13. Melissa K. Clinton

We are in southeast Texas so hot and humid describes our weather 8-9 months each year. I’d never make it without air conditioning. Hopefully, a cool front will head your way.

  14. Raven

It’s very hot here too (California) but we have air conditioning. I hope the heat wave ends soon for everyone. Stay safe my friends.

  15. meowmeowmans

They say this is the hottest July on record, so we agree … the heat seems to be getting more extreme here, too. We are grateful for air conditioning, for sure! Stay cool, sweet friends. XO

We hate the heat here. It got to 38c here where we live in Essex, UK. It’s cooler now but we are worried it’ll return soon.

    It’s like living in hell.

Hope it cools down for you 🙂

It never used to be as bad as this in the, UK but last year and this it has hitall time highs. We had AirCon installed last year and well happy and cooled this. Money well spent Mrs H says, as can heat us in winter, too. Stay cool everyone and enjoy the shade.

We had kind of the same temperatures, the last days it was over 44°C, but Granny still loves it…She only was staying inside for me with my fans… 😉 😀 It has cooled down now to 20°C so we have a breezer again. Cool Pawkisses for a Happy Day to all of you 🙂 <3
