Safety has a price

Zorro64Further to the disappearance of Céleste in 2010, Claire had already inquired with companies specialized as Swiss Clôtures or Sécurité Chats to know the cost of the securisation of the garden, without following up. Indeed, the answer was quite simple : it is expensive. Very expensive.

After the tragic death of Loupi, the question again arose, and this time Momo was ready : our small village develops, and even if it is still very quiet, there are all the same more and more cars. There is however an even big obstacle : the price. See rather : A = 180 m2, B = 90 m2jardin sur

What is sure, it is that there will not be cat here again as long as the garden is not secured, because Claire and Momo want that everybody can take advantage of it. I am used to going out as I want, it would be difficult to make to me stay at home, but I could adapt of a smaller territory.

I suggested learning to go hunting to exchange the fence for juicy birds and for soft mice, but my domesticated humans explained me that it was necessary to exchange it for pieces of paper of all colors, and that it would take time.

I did not understand why : it is nevertheless easy to have quickly paper sheets of all colors !

That really is expensive but probably worth it. I don’t know if that containment would work on a cat. Good luck to you. Hope you can figure something out. Take care.

It must be really hard to find something that keeps you safe and happy, too. Fencing around the yard is expensive. Would something like the Kittywalk be workable (or available where you are) in the short term until you can fence and make the garden safe? This must be a stressful time for all of you.

We are indoor cats. Our mom’s beloved Robbie was hit by a car. Although he lived, he never wanted to go out again. We also have coyotes here and the county sent flyers to all homes warning everyone to keep their pets inside. It can be hard keeping kitties in who are used to going out, we don’t miss it but our mom wishes she can have a safe outside enclosure for us. We understand how expensive in it.

We can’t ever go out because we live right in the middle of the city. Rocky goes out on the balcony, but only with supervision and NEVER alone. We know how you feel wanting to protect your kitties. Maybe it would be easier to make a nice screened in porch? And build a tree inside the house? Good luck!

I prefer to keep Athena indoors. I just feel that in this day and age there are far too many dangers out there (from some evil humans mostly, but also traffic and other animals). And living in busy North London, I just don’t want to risk it.

I do make sure she gets plenty of exercise as I play with her a lot. She is never alone because I work from home.

I am looking into getting her an enclosure of some sort. Tough it will be quite an expense, I feel it is worth it.

MOL a grand pile of colored papers my furend Zorro!
We are all insiders. Dad decided to keep me in as when I came was after his accident and going into the yard is very difficult. He wishes we could go outside but… maybe some day… We know the cost high so will be insiders until. Well Rumpy does have a harness and Dad is training the little one to go out on a harness also.
