Book review : Au pays des Marrakech’Chats by Fabienne Gajda

We have the pleasure to introduce you to the work « Au Pays des Marrakech’Chats » : it’s about a book of photos with little text. All the cats were photographed in Marrakesh by Fabienne Gajda-Baril.

Wife, mom, active woman, art lover, reader, nature enthusiast, Fabienne travels a lot, especially in Africa. A few years ago, she takes photos of cats with her small camera during a stay in Marrakesh. Her husband, professional photographer, likes the atmosphere of these photos, and encourages Fabienne in this way. The idea of a book makes its path, and Fabienne returns several times to Marrakesh with professional photographic equipment to concretize her project.

The book « Au Pays des Marrakech’Chats » takes you in streets and alleys of Marrakesh, in Morocco, on the meeting of his four paws inhabitants, into a poetic Mediterranean atmosphere. We liked a lot travelling in the set of the everyday life of Marrakesh thanks to these magnificent cats portraits.

Cattoos !

Today, it’s Meow Like A Pirate Day : and what would be a pirate without tattoos ?

Cattoos ! is a book of temporary cat tattoos illustrated by Megan Lynn Kott. The watercolor cats are full of cattitude. These tattoos are a great way to tell the world in a non-permanent way that you’re a cat lover. Each tattoo has its own message to express your feelings like « Meow », « Caturday ! », or « High four ! ». The book includes over 40 tattoos.

Each page of the book is detachable. You always find one paper page with several designs, and then the same page with cattoos.

How to apply a tattoo on your human ?

Clean and dry the skin
Cut out the chosen design and remove the transparent film
Apply tattoo facedown ; it may sound obvious, but we’ll tell you anyway : apply adhesive-side to skin
Wet the back of the tattoo, apply firmly, wait for 30-40 seconds, and if everything went well, you’re done !
Allow the tattoo to dry (more detailed informations are available in the book)

Cool, uh ?

Cattoos are made for lasting a few days, but you can remove them sooner with oily stuff.

Happy Cat collars

Happy Cat is a private action for animal welfare. Stephanie Schneider is a cat friend, and her four cats can go outside. However, she was for a long time against the fact to equip them with collar.

Stephanie wanted a collar which is not too much expensive, which can be seen, which is attractive, and which doesn’t present any danger for her cats. She had one day the idea to cut a strip of Chromolux paper to replace the collar which Sugar had lost again : it was purrfect !

We already heard of Happy Cat collars, and when she contacted us, we asked her for a sample to test the product before to tell you about it ; we had the pleasant surprise to receive a complete kit (50 collars, more than 1000 self-adhesive pastes to decorate them, reflecting stickers, 2 indelible pens, and a Scotch tape) !

Making a collar is easy : cut the strip at the good length by measuring on the cat, decorate it, and assemble it with the adhesive tape to close it. Life cycle of the collar : approximately two weeks. Price of the kit : 23.60 € + shipping. Zone of delivery: Europe. The site is in German, but videos allow very easily to understand everything.

Is it reliable ? Strips are not easy to tear if we fire in flat smoothly, but as soon as it twists little itself, they give in easily. Strips have a 1 kg resistance. Claire tried to dip them into the water : 10 mn later, the paper softens and tears easily also.

We found that it was a good idea, and we want to share it with you : three among you all will receive a sample consisting of 10 necklaces, 1 indelible pen, a reflecting sticker and 350 strass to past !
