How to recognize a frightened cat

PIXIE : I was very afraid during the renovation work of the bathroom, especially when the worker drilled the wall, and you could see it :

  • My pupils were dilated
  • My tail was stuck under my body
  • My whiskers were against my cheeks

Pixie, afraid, is hidden behind a bag.
Other signs are added to these when a cat is afraid:

  • Ears are flattened towards the back
  • The body is often of profile with regard to the danger or to the aggressor
  • The cat growls or hisses

If you see a cat who is afraid, leave him alone : a terrified cat will feel threatened by the slightest movement, even comforting. He could then show himself aggressive and attack. Go away and leave him time to calm down alone ; if it’s possible, eliminate the source of his dismay quickly and calmly.
You will know that his fear passed when he will resume his normal activities : eat, go to his litter box, or ask for your attention.

Why do cats eat grass ?

Do you believe that we play cows ? That we became vegetarian ?

We eat grass to evacuate the hairs which we swallow by licking us. Indeed, the hairs we swallow by having a wash form balls ; if these remain stuck in our bowel, they can cause a dangerous intestinal obstruction.

The blades of grass we eat get involved in hairs in our stomach and form balls which we can elegantly vomit in a carefully chosen place as most great pleasure of our human. The grass also favors our intestinal transit, what can allow the balls of fluff to take out again by… uh… our other end. If your cat is very constipated or did not do his little poo daily, go at once to the veterinarian !

To chew grass also allows us to absorb certain nourishing elements which are necessary for us, as the folic acid for example, which plays an important role in our production of haemoglobin.

You can also cultivate grass for your cat if he has no access outside, he will be quite satisfied and will less be tried to chew on your house plants !

Catification !

PIXIE : Claire and Momo bought this tree for me when I arrived, but I share it gladly with Zorro. On photos, you see small white mice hanging : there’s not any more ! We tore them away ! Zorro has already destroyed one, and the other one is in the garden.

It’s the last cat tree which arrived in the house. It comes from ZooPlus, as the others. At ZooPlus, you can find cat trees which are not too expensive. The delivery arrives in the week, it is very fast.

But yesterday, Claire finally received the book for which she has been waiting since April (and we too) : it’s Momo who is going to have some work !
