Sawdust Bucket Challenge

There was the Ice Bucket Challenge, we had during two days the Sawdust Bucket Challenge. We want to say that Claire and Momo took up this challenge with panache. As they are humble in the triumph, there is no photo of these unforgettable moments, but we are witnesses : they did it.

Why such a challenge, and why during two days ?

Well, if you’re a human and you renovate your only bathroom, you can wash yourself during 2 weeks in the kitchen sink, but for the rest, there is inevitably 2 days during which you have to use a sawdust bucket !

How to reconcile cats and works

The renovation work of the bathroom began for a week ; the first two days, it was infernal ! Nevertheless, Claire and Momo do their best so that we are the most comfortable possible : this is what your human can do in case of works so that it’s bearable :

Tell your cats that it’s going to have works there, that other people are going to come home, and that they will have no more access to a part of the house for a few days.
Plan to put your cats in the part of the house the most distant from the noise and from the agitation.
Prepare the living-room : a place for the food, a litter box in the opposite side or in a next room if possible; bring the favourite toys of your cats and their basket or their cover so that they feel safe.
As possible, stay with them in the room : your calm will help them to feel that the noise is unpleasant but that there is no danger.
If noises of machine (drill, grindstone) either big noises of demolition are to be planned during a whole day continuously or for several days, intend to go with your cats to a reliable person during this period.

Our isolation room is the nail studio with access to the garden, but as the house is small, we cannot say that we heard nothing !

Monitoring the work

PIXIE : First of all, the most impawtant : our humans didn’t need to use our litter box, they could keep theirs till this morning. It will be replaced after an interruption of three hours, thus no concern !

BIM BIM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BOOM ZZZEEEEEEE RRRRRRRRRRR ZZZEEEEEEE -…-

… and that begins again : here is the sound atmosphere of Wednesday, Thursday, and today. At every BOOM, all the house trembled. Zorro bravely curled up in the garden, but me, I was so afraid that I stayed with Claire in the nail studio. Claire explained me that the workers removed first the old bathtub made of cast iron ; it was so heavy that they owed to grind to make several fragments to be able to transport it ! Then, they drilled holes in walls and ground for the passage of the new pipes. Today, they install the new bathtub and all the new pipes. Next week, Momo is going to take charge of walls and ground, the stone floor is going to be put, then the workers will come back to install the new washbasin, the faucets, and the new toilet.

Claire and Momo are very delighted of this new bathroom. Me, I don’t like being locked into a single room (even if I can reach the garden), I don’t like the noise, and I don’t like that foreigners walk in my house !

I can’t wait that it’s finished !
