Last week, Claire and Momo took a very pleasant walk in the Vièze Gorges, 20 minutes from us.
From the town of Monthey, you can quickly find yourself in the heart of nature. After having crossed the charming Covered Bridge, built in 1809, they passed through the pretty neighborhood of Outre-Vièze (it climbed steeply !) before arriving at the grid bridge overlooking the gorges.
The walk could have stopped there because Claire is dizzy ; it would have been a shame. She decided that this time, this darn dizziness would not stop her : she fixed her point of arrival straight in front of her, and took her first steps, crossing in one go this vertiginous footbridge that swayed softly above a gap of 60 meters. Momo was so impressed !
She was rewarded : the decor was beautiful. The path runs along the river along the entire route in a magnificent setting and gently descends down to Monthey.
The walk is not long (about 1 hour), but the change of scenery is guaranteed !
Beautiful! The old wooden bridge looks as if it has been there forever and the newer metal one reminds me of one we discovered in the mountains of Belize… we were very, very proud to manage to make it across that swaying one and it wasn’t 60 feet above the water. As we returned to the bridge and worked up our courage to cross a second time, a local gentleman approached from the opposite side – on a bicycle – and without missing a beat, rode right across…. Thank goodness he couldn’t read our minds. I’m still amazed that the brige didn’t pitch him into the river.
That is a beautiful walk – thanks for taking us along! I would have been dizzy with that little bridge too!
You are looking mighty fine Zorro! My goodness, such a beautiful place with so many beautiful scenes!

That bridge like a snake would have petcretary reeling…she’d have to hold on and shut her eyes…MOL!

Looking good, Zorro! Hooray for Claire being so brave. We are happy the visual reward was so great. The scenery was gorgeous!
Wonderful nay spectacular scenery and boy, that bridge was quite something. I swear I would NOT be doing that—or if I did I would have to be led over.
