Saturday was almost spring after the passage of the storm Eleanor-Burglind. We immediately switched from the rhythm “hibernation” to the rhythm “normal activity”.
We invited Claire and Momo to come to play outside with us and took advantage of the sun.

Our humans ate the Twelfth-Night pancake for Epiphanie in two steps, a little bit at noon, and a little bit in the evening ; this year, Claire made it herself, and she used a whole almond in lieu of bean.
The suspense was complete till the end of the pancake : nobody had found the bean.
Claire finally said : « It’s not possible, I definitely put an almond in this crown ! ”
And Momo answered: ” Then, I am a king since noon, because I crunched a thing in a piece, and … ”
Claire interrupted him ” And you didn’t ask yourself more questions ? ”
Momo : ” No, I didn’t think that you would put a bean you can eat ! “

my granny was the king in our house, she found the little glass figure in our galette des rois… but I ate the paper crown, that makes me technically to a king from the inside too, right?
How nice that you two got to get outdoors and play.
We giggled at Momo not realizing that he found the almond 🙂
MOL!

My human hasn’t read up on this tradition – it sounds like fun!

It looks like Spring in your garden 🙂
Our Mama says her mother used to make a cake with the bean in it when she was a little girl. The person who had the bean in their piece of cake was king or queen and then since our family was large, the king or queen could choose a partner and the rest of the family were the servants who had to do one thing each for the” royal couple”. We didn’t realize people still practiced this tradition 🙂

What a gorgeous day you had! And we love the story of the non-bean almond. Though I’ve never taken part in it, I have always loved hearing of this tradition. We hope you are all enjoying a blessed 2018!
Good to see Pixie and Zorro back to their kitty business outside. That pancake looks especially tasty!
That makes us laugh! We put a plastic baby in our King cake and the person that gets the “baby” piece has to buy the next King cake!
