Birthday week

Claire celebrated her birthday all last week long. You don’t believe me ? Listen :

On Monday, the Executive Board prepared her a nice apéritif at the office ; she received a pretty cup with a cookbook for small desserts, a box of excellent Darjeeling tea, and an adorable « Cat » office set (post-it of various sizes and weekly schedule).

On Wednesday, it was really her birthday : her colleagues sang her “Happy Birthday” in the teachers room, and the colleague with whom she works offered her a delicious dessert wine. When she arrived home, a magnificent bouquet was waiting for her(outside our reach…), as well as the Momo’s present : an attractive charm to be added to her bracelet.

On Saturday, Grandpa came home loaded with T-shirts and with socks.

And on Sunday, Claire and Momo went to take the brunch in a charming place near us. They joined the useful one for the pleasant one by going to it by foot through the vineyard.

And we offered her a very special present : a whole week without bringing her any prey back, alive or dead !

It’s apple season !

Summer is coming to its end, but the weather remains magnificent : our humans had an nice walk by the lake via the magnificently flowered waterfronts of Montreux and the impressive castle of Chillon.

The harvest season is not ended, and our apple tree sometimes gives us funny apples, like this one :

I remain carefully remote, because they don’t stop falling !

How is the weather at your place ? Do you already feel that autumn is coming ?

Back in the past

Claire and Momo had left for a simple walk when, in the bend of a way, they were taken in a whirlwind which brought them back to the Middle Ages.

We live very close to the magnificent castle of Aigle, and the Medieval Party takes place every year. Crafts, everyday life, period costumes, everything is made so that the visitor finds himself in the Middle Ages.

Our humans attend a presentation of falconry with alternately a buzzard, two eagles, an owl, a vulture, and even a condor of the Andes ! They also attended several demonstrations : artillery with ancient weapons, ballista shooting, dance, music, paper manufacturing, paint with egg, forge, lace creation, glass blowing, and more …

They saw some representations of cat, in particular on blazons. The cat had rather good reputation at the beginning of the Middle Ages (except with the Roman Roman Catholic Church), it was appreciated for his talents as hunter of mice and rats. During the XIVth century he has been associated with infernal worship : it was the animal of the devil and the witches. Thousands of cats were put to death cruelly between the XIVth and the XVIth century because of these superstitions.

Fortunately, our humans came back in time to the XXIth century to feed us !
