Shine On Award

What a pleasant surprise ! In our return in the blogosphere after Claire’s holidays, we had the pleasure to discover that Carmine, Milita and Jewel of the blog Fur Everywhere had awarded us the Shine On Award. Thank you very much buddies !

Seven anecdotes about us :

The bathroom is my favorite room : I adore licking the water in the faucet, in the washbasin, and at the bottom of the bathtub (Zorro).
I don’t like chicken (Zorro).
I’m a black cat but in the sun I have chocolate-brown reflections (Zorro).
I caught my first bird at 3-month-old and half (Pixie).
I paint wall with my poo (I walk inside and I shake my paws after) (Pixie).
I am obsessed by zippers : as soon as I see one, I try to catch it and to nibble it (Pixie).
We adore playing together in the tunnel (even if Claire forgets to turn the iPhone to film !)

We begin not to know any more to whom we have already given a price, and it is difficult to choose among all the blogs which we know. We are thus going to cheat a little with the fourth rule : this award is at your disposal, feel free to take it if you wish !

4 impawtant announcements

Claire is finally come back from England ; she appreciated a lot her stay in the charming town of Frodsham. She was 2 mn far away from the most interesting of all the shops : she brought us back at least a little something to be forgiven for having abandoned us !

During her absence, Momo almost became crazy when I accidentally walked in my poo (again…) and shook then my paws, what spread it all on the wall (Pixie).

Our friend Stephanie came home with a REAL camera and made magnificent photos of us ; you will discover them very soon !

Be, Blog and Read the Change for Animals !

In 2013, in Switzerland, more than 22600 animals have been taken in shelters : approximately 12400 cats, 3100 dogs, 2700 rodents and 4400 fishes, birds and other reptiles ; among these 22700 animals, about 14700 of them found a new home, and 2400 were returned to their owner. (Source: SPA)

But why do people abandon their cat ?

The mainly called reasons are moving (separation of the couple or new apartment not authorizing pets), health problems of a member of the family (allergy), and behavior problems of the cat : he is too shy, he is not allowed carry, he scratches the furniture, he urinates next to his box, he poops wherever, …
Certain people adopt a cat as pet without knowing anything of their needs ; they have never read a book about cats, never inquired, and have then little realistic expectations for him, and no idea of the care to bring him.

What’s to be done to avoid it ?

The person who wants to adopt a cat has the duty to inquire : the cat is an alive being who does not need the same as a child, a dog, or a goldfish : it is necessary to know it before adopting a cat. This remark is valid for any pet.
The breeders, the veterinarians, and the shelters are good information sources : they can give piece of information about cats, and advise about reference books to get.
The Swiss society for the prevention of cruelty to animals published information sheets in several languages which are very well made.
Finally, the people who suggest cats adopting have a duty of information also : they have to make sure that their young protégé will be placed in good hands before letting him leave.
