Why to have an insurance for your cat ?

Pixie50 On June 16th of this year, I’ve been three months old. It is the age from which I can be insured at Animalia.

Why an insurance for me ? Because I am not unfortunately shielded from a disease or from an accident, as everybody, and because the veterinary care can be very expensive. For example, the accident of our poor angel Loupi cost 700 CHF. What would it take place if something happened to me and if Claire and Momo did not have the means to pay my treatment ?

With Animalia, your bean can choose an insurance deductible of 100, 300 or 500 CHF. In case of misfortune, Animalia takes care of 80 % of expenses (after deduction of the insurance deductible) up to 5000 CHF a year, or for an unlimited sum if your bean chooses this option. And they take care of all which follows :

  • my examinations and my care (by a veterinarian)
  • my medicine and other means prescribed to the veterinary office
  • all my vaccines (50 CHF a year, off insurance deductible)
  • my sessions of homoeopathy, acupuncture, osteopathy or still physiotherapy (maximum 12 sessions to 50 CHF a year)
  • the transport as a matter of urgency up to a health center in case of misfortune (100 CHF a year)
  • the publication of an announcement if I run away (50 CHF a year)
  • my expenses of pension (15 CHF a day during maximum 10 days) if my bean is hospitalized and there is nobody else in the house to take care of me
  • emergencies all around the world
  • my night stays to the veterinary office (20 CHF a night, maximum 200 CHF a year)

Of course, it is necessary to warn them at once if we are sick or we have an accident, and to send them invoices when we paid so that they pay off us, but it’s worth it for 7.35 CHF a month, isn’t it ?

And if I don’t need all these services during two years (except vaccination), I have a bonus !

1 CHF = 1.1 $ = 0.65 £ = 0.82 €

Irresistible

Pixie31Two days. Two days, it is the time which I needed to melt Zorro.

When I arrived home on Saturday afternoon, Claire and Momo put in me in a room to part and showed me where was my litter box and where was my food. Then, they went out, and left me so that I can become used to my new home. They had read and heard by the tons of contradictory advice on the way of presenting a kitten to a grown-up cat.

  • Way 1 : it is necessary to isolate at first the new cat, to proceed to exchanges of smells without cats see for a few days, then letting each explore alone the territory of other one, and finally manage to get acquainted.
  • Way 2 : the kitten is directly put in touch with grown-up, under surveillance.

Except that me, I was not used to being alone : I always lived with my brothers and sisters, and my four cousins. Then, I cried very hardly, and Claire meant playing with me and cuddling me. Shortly after, Momo also came. At the end of a good moment playing, I fell asleep. In the evening, when I woke up again alone against the cuddly toy Bert (the farting hippopotamus of the TV-series NCIS), I again cried very hardly.

As Claire and Momo entered the room, Zorro followed and also sneaked. He was hardly a little bit nervous, not at all aggressive, but very curious. Friendly curious. My beans chose to let go.
I found that my new older brother was great beautiful ! I wanted at once to go near him, but he hissed all the same if I came closer than 50 cms. Impressed by my excessive cuteness doubtless.

After night without anything particular to indicate, and on common Sunday, a major change occurred on Sunday evening : I peed in the box of Zorro instead of mine because I was in a hurry, and HE SAID NOTHING ! On the contrary, he looked at me, and when I went out, he “cooed” and began to lick me. He rolled about on the side to show me that it was ready to play the pursuit, and that’s it.

Pixie et Zorro 01Since this moment, we share boxes and bowls, he calls me by cooing, we play together, and he licks me from time to time.

Claire’s addition : Pixie weighs 900 g and Zorro 4,5 kg : I see that he pays attention, but he pushes her aside all the same a little by playing. If he wants to play “hardly” with a toy and us, he let Pixie understand that she has not her place in this moment of game, and that he will not lend her his toy. It is very interesting to observe.

How to convert a outdoor cat to an indoors life

Zorro arbreWhen Claire and Momo got back me after four days of disappearance, they put under house arrest me: no way that I put back a whisker outside as long as there would be no fence in the garden !

To avoid that I become mad and that I defuse everything To make my stay the most pleasant possible, my domesticated woman had in mind a small sentence fired by an article that had been shared by Stunning Keisha on Facebook : “the secret to encouraging the neighborhood globetrotters to choose indoors over the outdoors is to make the inside more interesting and appealing than the outside ».

Zorro116They made room in the lounge to be able to install a new cat tree which goes up to the ceiling (they kept the one who is old and quite used all the same because it’s ugly but still functional). There is another cat tree in the small room, less high, which was already there.

I also received a small circuit of game ; Claire goes to see if I play with, and if that pleases me, she will buy other pieces to enlarge it. Oh, and I have just discovered that Claire hid treats for me in various places : I adore that kind of surprise !

I benefit from at least three sessions of game per day: what I prefer, it’s to pursue a simple thread !

Zorro120Finally, I have the right to go on or to the bed during the night as I have clean paws.

Of course, I demand little to go outside, but altogether, I adapt myself rather well to my new life.

I am all the same very impatient to see the enclosure of the garden ended to be able to take advantage of it a little again !
