A surprise package from Japan

On Tuesday morning, Claire found this in the mailbox :

A parcel coming from Japan ! But who could have sent it to us ?

When she opened it, she found first a magnificent card with a kind message of #1, the human of the Poupounette Gang : what a charming surprise !

There was also a little tablecloth, washi tape, post-it, and tabi-socks.

The traditional tabi are made of cotton ; they have a more thick sole, of cotton too, and are not elastic. They are worn by the back, and close with metallic ties. Tabi goes with geta (wooden) or zori (rice straw).

Tabi-socks are “normal” socks of which the big toe is separated from the other toes. Claire has no zori, but she shows you how it looks like with her flip-flops.

The small tablecloth is adorable, and it has the purrfect size for the coffee table of the living room.

And the post-it…

Claire has a special bond with Japan : she’s been practicing judo for more than 25 years since she was 6 years old, loves zen spirit and Japanese art, but never visited.

Thank you so much for this lovely surprise, #1,
it made our human very happy !

Happy blogoversary !

Today, we celebrate a milestone : 5 years and one day ago, on April 23rd, 2012, Angel Loupi launched the blog The Swiss Cats on Blogger. He already wanted to make friends all over the world, and had put at once a Google Translate button so that Mr Bumpy, our very first Internet buddy of Australia, could understand what he mewed.

It’s our fifth blogoversary !

Zorro arrived in February, 2013, and in April, 2013, Loupi and Zorro decided to publish the English translation of their blogposts following the text in French.

In August, 2013, The Swiss Cats move from Blogger to WordPress. A very useful plug-in allows them to translate articles while keeping the formatting of the beginning, and to have separated links for the French version and the English version.

In January, 2014, Loupi and Zorro becomes aware that they cannot be The Swiss Cats if they do not mew in three main national languages of Switzerland (which account four of them) : from this moment, articles written in French are translated into German, into Italian, and into English.

On March 29th, 2014, Loupi crosses the Rainbow Bridge, but quickly sends me to Zorro, Claire and Momo. I join the team of The Swiss Cats on May 24th, 2014.

But what would be our blog without you, dear readers ?

Thanks to all for following us regularly, and thank you for being our friends !

Merci ! Thank you ! Danke ! Grazie !

Unplugged

We were not very present this week in the blogosphere, nor on social networks. We needed to think about us and about our blog. The frosty temperatures were moreover convenient to our mini-retreat.
cold and snow
When we noticed that we begin to plan the moments when we HAD to be on the social networks, that we told ourselves that we absolutely HAD to read the articles of all blogs we follow, we said STOP : we are cats, after all !

We want to have a “good” blog, have fun to write it and to visit our blogging pals, meet new friends on various social networks, but have time too to do things we love to do : sleep, play, eat, be cute, put fur everywhere, walk in the garden, hunt, and snuggle with our humans.

The more you spend time online, the less you spend it to live small or big events, and the less you have adventures to be told on your blog. It’s a question of balance.

If as us you are not a professional blogger, what do you think of our reflection ?
