We celebrate Cheese Fondue Day !

On April 11th, it’s Cheese Fondue Day !

Last time, we shared with you the recipe of our favorite fondue : the fondue moitié-moitié (half-half).
This year, we let you discover another recipe : the Valais tomato fondue.

– 30 g of butter
– 1 crushed garlic clove
– 1 average onion finely chopped
– 3 crushed tomatoes or 1 box of crushed tomatoes (400 g), drained
– 500 g of Valais raclette cheese AOP, grated
– 300 g of Swiss cheese AOP (Gruyère), grated
– 3 dl of Valais white wine (Fendant)
– 3 short coffee spoons of Cornstarch
– 1 small glass of kirsch
– pepper and nutmeg
– 600-800 g of jacket potatoes

Melt the butter in the heavy saucepan. Fry the garlic and the onion, then add tomatoes. Sweat briefly then add the white wine. Add cheeses and bring to a boil slowly. Move constantly. Dilute the cornstarch with the kirsch, add. Continue to move well, bring again to a boil, and season with pepper and nutmeg.

Put the heavy saucepan on the stove.

How to taste ? Each cuts some potatoes in pieces in his plate and drizzle with fondue by means of a ladle.

Enjoy your meal !

Meeting The Poupounette Gang

The last ten days were the most exciting : Claire and #1 of the Poupounette Gang had decided to meet in France. It’s an event, because as you know, Claire is not a big traveler (and us even less …). Unfortunately, Air France (airline company) and the SCNF (railways company) had announced important strikes the day planned for her departure. Would she only be able to leave ?

Yes ! Relying only on her courage, Claire defied the strikes and the crowd of travelers to arrive finally safe and sound to the Poupounette Central.

She was so able to get to know better #1, and especially our four paws friends :

the pretty Tama, who makes sure with a firm paw that everything goes well with the boys,

the adorable Genji, who spent a large part of his time in Claire’s arm (not, we’re not jealous, it’s a friend),

the beautiful Bibi,

the friendly Tommy, always ready for a good play session in the fields,

and the sweet Violette, who enjoyed a good brush given by #1.

Claire even had the great honor to ride Violette !

We thank the Poupounette Gang very much for the warm welcome they gave to our human, and for the toys and delicious treats they offered to us. Claire and #1 have already promised to renew the experience !

Happy Easter !

Some of you asked me : yes, it’s the Easter rabbit for which I watched on Wednesday indeed !

He visited us this morning, and left something for the humans :

The tradition of dyed eggs for Easter is common to many countries, but here we also have another tradition that features eggs : egg tapping.

We play with hard-boiled eggs, before eating them, and rules are very easy : every player holds his egg in his hand and bangs it against the egg of another player to try to break the shell of the opponent, without breaking his own. The players agree to collide eggs summit against summit or base against base. The one whose egg breaks has lost.

Did you already know this tradition ? Have you already played ?

We found a video of this fascinating game in which one you can also hear some Swiss-German dialect of the canton of Zürich. For those who speak German, can you understand this charming presenter ?

Happy Easter !
